Overview

Users should familiarize themselves with the hand tools safety rules.

Hand Tools Safety Rules:

  1. Always wear safety glasses/goggles.
  2. Always think about where the tool will go if it slips or breaks.
  3. Never use tools that are broken, damaged, or have burrs on them – especially chisels, hammers, and screwdrivers.  Report any broken or damaged tools to the shop’s technicians.
  4. Always hold work securely in a vise.
  5. Always use a brush to remove chips.
  6. Never use a file without a handle.
  7. Remove all burrs from your job before handling it.
  8. If your job heats up, mark it or place it so no one can be injured by it.
